ClearBrain
ClearMission

Founded, owned, and run by a clinician.

ClearBrain is made by BLS Performance, LLC, founded by Ben Schwinke — who also runs Maryland Integrative Counseling Associates (MICA) and has spent over fifteen years doing clinical neurofeedback with real people, in an active mental health practice.

Clients kept asking for better products to practice their in-office training at home. Unfortunately, the off-the-shelf wearables were a disappointment. They worked like whoever designed or built them had never sat with someone through a session — or the software was bad enough that clients simply would not use it.

Hardware good enough to train cleanly at the site a protocol calls for rather than only at the forehead, with software easy enough for a first session and still carrying the controls professionals actually want, is finally both achievable and affordable at home. That is what ClearBrain is.

The company is deliberately separate from the counseling practice. ClearBrain is a wellness product sold to whoever wants it; MICA is a clinical practice whose clients and records stay there. Keeping those apart is the reason the company exists as its own entity.

Real neurofeedback, designed in a working practice.

No venture capitalists

The training software was designed by a practicing clinician who uses clinical neurofeedback in his own practice and teaches neurofeedback to other clinicians.

The conviction behind the design

Forehead sensors pick up too much noise to train reliably, and they reach only a fraction of the sites a protocol might call for. The software is either dumbed down into a single proprietary ‘score’ or too complicated for the general public to use. ClearBrain starts at the vertex, shows you the real amplitudes, and was designed to remove the barriers of neurofeedback so everyone can train their brain.
