Safety Notice

READ BEFORE USE. KEEP FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.

Seizure warning

A small number of people have seizures or blackouts triggered by flashing lights or visual patterns, sometimes with no prior history, and childhood is when that most often first appears. ClearBrain’s visual feedback is a slow fade over several seconds, never a strobe, flash or flicker, but it does change screen brightness continuously during a session.

  • Anyone who has had a seizure or loss of awareness, has epilepsy or a family history of it, or has been told they are sensitive to light should talk to a physician before training, and train only if the physician approves.
  • STOP IMMEDIATELY and seek medical advice if you or your child experiences dizziness, altered vision, eye or muscle twitching, loss of awareness, disorientation, any involuntary movement, or convulsions.

Children

  • An adult must set up the equipment and supervise every session.
  • Keep sessions short, and stop if the child is uncomfortable, upset or tired.
  • Keep the cable, small parts and skin-prep gel away from young children.

Skin

  • Use the sensor, ear clip and skin-prep gel only on clean, healthy, unbroken skin.
  • Do not use the skin-prep gel if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Stop use and wash the area if redness, itching or irritation develops, and see a doctor if it continues.
  • Clean the sensor and ear clip after each session as described in the Support page. Clean the hat before another person uses it.

Amplifier and charging

  • Never wear the amplifier while it is charging, and never connect the charger while the hat is on someone’s head.
  • Use only a charger and USB cable that are undamaged and meet the amplifier’s rating (5 V DC). Do not use loose or damaged outlets.
  • Do not use the amplifier during a thunderstorm, near water, or if it, the cable or the sensor is damaged.
  • Keep gel and moisture out of the charging port. Do not leave the amplifier on or near a heat source; a lithium battery can fail dangerously if overheated.
  • Do not open the amplifier. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
  • If you have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, ask your physician before use.

When not to use

  • While driving, operating machinery, or doing anything else that needs your full attention.
  • If you feel unwell.
